As photojournalists we provide often hundreds of images from a portrait session and books like these are the best way to show them off. 
Katie Carlin and Matt Scherer are to be married December 29. We met them for an engagement session on Nicolette Island yesterday - as gray a November day as Minnesota makes. But even though the weather was lousy, this is one fun couple and their laughter was contagious. As we were on the Stone Arch Bridge, students were migrating over to the football game and a few stopped to help us cheer on Katie's team, the Badgers. Matt and Katie had their first date at Nye's - a classic kitchy bar nearby - and as the story goes, didn't think too much of each other at first - yet over the course of two years when Katie went to Istanbul, they continued to correspond and "date from afar." Nye's now has a special place in their heart so we went there for a few portraits. Their wedding will be spectacular - ceremony at Our Lady of Lourdes on the island and reception at the amazing Loring Pasta Bar. Nick took me there for my birthday Friday, and I saw it for the first time. I have a new favorite restaurant. We can't wait to photograph their wedding. Click on any image to open larger.
Last Sunday Sarah Morreim and Grant Wood were married in one of the most elegant mansions in the Twin Cities. The Semple Mansion on Franklin St. in Minneapolis. Sarah is a photographer and filmmaker, Grant is an independent filmmaker too, so you can see why they chose this place for their wedding - it's like a movie set for an Merchant-Ivory production. Sarah and Grant chose some fun ideas for their ceremony - including 3-D glasses used to find your place-cards (guests needed to wear their 3-D glasses to read the 3-D tags!), wedding bingo, and a countdown of the top 10 cheesiest wedding songs. On a cool November night, the gorgeous ballroom really glowed with warm light. Click on any image to open larger and we welcome messages for Sarah, Grant, or us.
Brittany Roth and Kevin Eckstam joined me for their engagement session down in Lowell Park in Stillwater on a Technicolor perfect day recently. Brittany and Kevin are being married on the July 4th 2008 weekend at the Stillwater Historic Courthouse. Brittany is a Stillwater native, and they met as students at Cornell College in Iowa. Brittany now works for Target as a business analyst and Kevin's in business management of Midwest Aqua Care. The other part of this picture is Murphy, their golden lab with a big personality, looking dapper in his bow-tie. Brittany and Kevin are also huge Twins fans, so that called for a visit to a Stillwater Junior High baseball field for their baseball card shots. That's my son's T-ball bat which came in handy.
