It snowed today! October 12. What a slap in the face! So much for those great fall leaf sessions I was planning to do this week. The leaves are still all on the trees but they are dropping now, when they are still green, and everyone is in shock. This has been the wackiest year for weather I can remember since we came here to Minnesota from San Francisco in 1993.
Anyway, it was a good day to take some pictures of the studio. So in case you're interested, this is our studio! The new company sign just went up outside at 406 West Olive - our new logo is cream, white and black, designed by the amazing Terra Bastolich of My Day Invitations. The studio is full of giant canvases that will go down to a show at the Japa Salon here in Stillwater on Friday.... There is the projection screen, the backdrops, and the comfy couches. This space used to be a law office when previous owners were here in the 70s and 80s, - imagine floor to ceiling bookshelves we had to remove!! The ceilings are at least 12 feet high, great for studio lights and me on a ladder shooting down. Our sofas are on rollers, so we can just wheel them out of the way for portrait sessions. The big windows are covered by sheer blinds that double as a great light source on sunny days - a technique I learned from the amazing David Williams.
