Dana and Idris

Dana Kass and Idris Hsi were married August 8 at 317 on Rice Park in St. Paul. Dana is the daughter of Andy and Ginny Kass, who most of Stillwater know as the owners of Sutler's, a wine and spirits store here, since sold to Haskell's. They are also in our circle of friends. 

Dana and Idris are a bright, amazing couple with a great spirit of fun and style. They put together a day filled with jugglers, swing dancing, public cookie-making, an elegant ceremony, 317's great food and Andy's wine choices, and Idris' family from all over Asia and the US.

Nancy Harms

Nancy Harms, the beautiful and talented jazz vocalist here in the Twin Cities, invited me to be the photographer for her upcoming CD - not sure how much I can say about that since it's going to be released soon - but if you have ever heard her sing, she is world-class and has the voice and presence of an international star. I just jumped at the chance to photograph her. We went to Uptown in Minneapolis, Calhoun Square area, for these portraits. I was looking for a mix of sultry and Audrey Hepburn, a mood Nancy wanted to achieve. Nancy was dressed in a sleek, black sweater and pencil skirt, her hair done in a 40's style, pulled back. Nick and I used off-camera lighting to illuminate her face, as well as the natural light of the signs, windows, and theaters. Here are some of the many images she now has to choose from.
