Ann and Marty

Fall is just too short, short short! I love the fall as do many of you, because it's so colorful, and this year has been especially colorful since IMHO the frost held off until just this week. So we got all the vibrant greens along with the reds and yellows. It's also finally stopped raining. So Ann Torborg and Marty Spanish met me at Pioneer Park here in Stillwater for an engagement session to take advantage of the leaves. They are to be married May 31 of next year in St. Joseph, Minnesota with their reception at the St. Cloud Civic Center. The Civic Center should be able to handle their 350 guests, 19-member wedding party, as well as a state convention or two! Ann and Marty are good friends of Michaela and Eddie Gwaizdon, whose wedding we photographed back in 2005. Marty is a dentist and Ann is a veterinarian, and they met at the University of Minnesota in Duluth when they were both in medical school. We look forward to being their photographers next spring. Myles and Myra Get Married

Myra Rother and Myles Dahlgren were married yesterday in a lovely ceremony in a spectacular Catholic church in Lakeville - the All Saints Catholic Church - that towers over all the brown houses in the neighborhood. The light in there is lovely through floor to ceiling windows and skylights. Although Myra and Myles had 300 guests, the church is like a stadium and would have seated quadruple that amount. The courtyard was the scene for their private meeting before the wedding, Myra's gorgeous bouquet by Bella Bouquet of Rosemount. Myra and Myles are a sweet couple, good-natured with a lot of friends who love to party! We all stopped at Antler's Park on the way to the Bluffs of Mendota in St. Paul for a packed reception. Myles and Myra went into the cake-cutting with gusto! And look at this cake by Farmington Bakery! It's so big there are ladders to each individual cake. That impressed ringbearer Cameron, who couldn't get his eyes off the cake. We all had a great time photographing all the fun and wish Myles and Myra and their family the best. Anna and Matthew's Wedding

Anna Blem and Matthew Hogen were married October 6 in a little town about 2 1/2 hours west of the Twin Cities called Olivia. It was a gorgeous fall day, the colors at their peak, and Olivia is a little town right out of a Norman Rockwell painting, with a main street full of thriving stores, tree-lined streets, and homes like Anna's parents have - a cozy place full of knick-knacks and family photos and wall hangings and a lot of family! where Anna got dressed with her sister and bridesmaids. After a bit of a quandry as to how to fit the veil in her hair - those combs can be daunting! - Anna and Matthew had a private meeting in her parents' backyard, which faces a golf course. The light and spaciousness made their meeting all the lovelier. Their ceremony was at Olivia's Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church and then it was on to Jackpot Junction for the reception in Morton, Minnesota. This wedding party photo was my attempt to emulate Annie Liebowitz' "Last Supper" portrait of the Sopranos. Close!! But no cigar. Matthew was great as the shady big winner. The band was Diane Martinson's Elevation band which is one amazing group, playing swing and jazz as well as pop classics. It was a wonderful time. Tom and Laura's Wedding

Laura Lenth married her sweetheart, Tom Hennessey on September 29 in a gorgeous elegant wedding in Woodbury. Tom is in the Navy where he serves as a lieutenant, junior grade, so he wore his dress whites. Tom's father is also a Navy man, and the whole Hennessey clan is from the Boston area. That's why two pennants were pinned to the wall at the reception - one for the Twins and one for the Boston Red Sox! Laura's family is local, Mary and Ed, so they didn't have to travel as far. The ceremony was in a tiny church called Guardian Angels Catholic Church - you can see it from the highway right around the Radio Drive exit in Woodbury. It's a fully restored church that has kept is pristine charm. Laura was amazing in her Mikaella gown. And based on her dad Ed's introduction of the wedding party, this was the best educated group of bridesmaids and groomsmen we have ever seen! The Prestwick Golf Club was the setting for the reception and our outdoor photos. What a great spot for photos - and beautiful light! What a wonderful night.
