Leah and Dan

Como Park Conservatory in St. Paul is not as crowded as in the winter right now, all the better for Leah Felsenthal and Daniel Reiter, who met me there Tuesday for an engagement session. Leah and Daniel are absolutely delightful people, fun, easy-going, and very good looking! So it wasn't hard to make these portraits look good either. Leah and Daniel both work in the corporate world - she's a senior asset analyst and he's a manager of services for Best Buy. Daniel proposed to Leah at Taylor's Falls and we would have done session there, except for the travelling time! So the conservatory worked out well, and created an inspirational prelude to what will probably be a spectacular honeymoon in Hawaii. Their wedding is set for September 22 right here in Stillwater. Ceremony at the Trinity Lutheran Church and reception at the Historic Washington County Courthouse. I am really looking forward to it now that I have had a chance to meet them and get to know them. Zach and Anne

Anne Schwichtenberg and Zach Tatlock are getting married in July in St. Paul, although they live in Indiana. They drove in for the Memorial day weekend to visit parents so it was a great chance to learn a little more about them during an engagement photo session Sunday evening. They're a really wonderful couple, very into photography, so it was a pleasure working with them. Anne met Zach when they were students at Purdue University, and although they didn't share the same major - she's in finance and he's in computer science - they have a lot in common. Zach's a great listener and a loves thoughtful discussions, according to Anne. Anne is a beauty, and she's smart and funny. Together they hope to do a lot of travelling together. Anne says that "...Even if I had 100 years with Zach it still wouldn't be enough. I feel so blessed that we met so young and have as much of those 100 years together as possible." Their wedding will be at the Hamline chapel and the reception will be at the spectacular Landmark Center in St. Paul. Derek Watson

Last Thursday I got together with Derek Watson for senior portraits. Derek is a student at Stillwater Area High School. His interests are skateboarding, saxophone, and guitar, but his passion is bikes. We did some portraits in his garage where he posed with a bike he constructed himself - it's aluminum - lightweight but strong. He was also interested in doing some portraits in downtown Stillwater's back alleys using interesting walls. We have so many of them it was great exploring the city's nooks and crannies. Derek has a talent for posing, as you can see. He's very natural in front of the camera, and his expression is calm and intelligent. It was a pleasure to be his photographer! Derek plans to attend the U of Wisconsin at River Falls in the fall. We are sure he will be successful and wish him the best! Click on any image to open larger. Please leave a comment!

Katelyn Larson

Katelyn is an amazing gal, a straight-A student at Stillwater Area High School, and one of the nicest friends my daughter Miranda has. Here are some of her senior portraits we did this week at the newly reopened Boomsite north of Stillwater. As you can see, Katelyn also has amazing hair -- it falls naturally into these corkscrew-like curls and cascades down her shoulders like she's the subject of an Italian painting. Katelyn can also play the piano and sing, which gave her the lead in the recent production of the Pirates of Penzance at the high school. She plans to major in music at St. Olaf's College in Northfield in the fall. We know she will be a star there too. Click on any image to open larger.
