Ted and Stephanie's Wedding

Stephanie Boyer is a corporate event planner, so she planned her elegant wedding to Ted Nafzger, who does computer software sales, like the pro she is, with attention to every detail. She chose the Landmark Jr. Suite at the St. Paul Hotel to get ready, where we did these portraits of Stephanie, then it was off to St. Louis Church on Cedar Street in downtown St. Paul, a "little French church" so ornate we could have been in France. (If you have never seen the inside of this church, check it out sometime, also the smaller side chapel with the blue grotto.) Stephanie loves photojournalism, so most of the time that's what we did - capture the spirit of the day. Ted is a golfer, so this special portrait was made on the green at the Midland Hills Country Club before the reception. Stephanie was always bored as a child at weddings, so for this one, she made sure the children had fun. There was a clown, a face painter, amazing cheesecakes from Muddy Paws Cheesecake, and dancing until everyone nearly dropped. Well, a couple of them did! Her wedding was a joy for us as well as all her friends and relatives. Click on any image to open larger. Please leave a message for Stephanie, Ted, or us!

Doug and Lindsay

Lindsay and Doug sure know how to have fun! On this sunny morning, we went to Minnehaha Falls park and these two were a bundle of happy energy. It's so cool to be around them as a photographer - not much posing needed, these guys were themselves all the way! Lindsay and Doug are grade school teachers in the Eden Prairie district, where they met and fell in love. Fortunately the kids didn't think it much of a scandal, or so they say! These guys are huge football fans. Right after this session Doug donned his purple jersey and they headed out on the light rail to the Metrodome for a game with the Vikings. Lindsay's will be the second Kroog wedding for us - we photographed her sister Lisa's wedding last year, and just like Lisa, Lindsay will be married in St. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The date is set for June 16 next year. Click on any image to open larger. Please leave a comment for Lindsay, Doug or me!

Anne and George

Anne Mleziva and George Guiral had a gorgeous wedding Saturday - ceremony at S. Cecilia Catholic Church, a small 100-year-old church near University Ave. in St. Paul. The weather was cold and got colder throughout the day, so most of our time was inside the warm locations, where the girls could be comfortable without goosebumps. Anne is a nurse and George is a schoolteacher - 4th grade - and they are a wonderful couple - a bit shy and reserved - and clearly meant for each other. Definitely two of a kind! Anne was a beauty in her wedding dress, and the red dresses on the bridesmaids, and her choice of flower colors, really lit up this November-ish cold and cloudy day. George is really Jorge, named after his dad Jorge. Their entire family comes from Cuba! And yes, there was salsa music played that night! The reception was at the Mendakota Country Club, always one of my favorites for its amazing paths and beautiful sculptured hills. Thanks too for help from our photographer friend Verna Pitts, www.vernapittsphotography.com, who assisted! You can't help smile when you say "Si!" Click on any image to open larger. Leave a comment for Anne, George, and us! Full images will be online in the galleries in one month.

Kara and Joe

Joe Dragitch and Kara Woelfel were married Saturday at Concordia Lutheran in South St. Paul. It's in the oldest part of St. Paul, near Pig's Eye Lake where the first settlers established a town. Everything went wonderfully, the weather was sunny (although chilly - the high was 49 degrees!), everyone was in good spirits, and just about everyone in their huge circle of friends and family made it to the event. Both of them seemed cool and collected all day. Kara has a classic beauty with her blue eyes, blond hair and great figure. We had a moment to catch the look in her eyes just before she went to see Joe for their private meeting before the wedding inside the sanctuary. Joe is an electrician who also fixes furnaces and air conditioners, so just for laughs, his buddies tied a giant radiator housing to the back of his pickup truck with "Just Married" painted on it. Fortunately they cut it loose before they left the parking lot! The wedding party went to Kaposia Park for photos - it's got a history as being a settlement for the Native Americans and has its own mounds. Did I mention it was 49-degrees? That's probably why these girls are in such a close huddle! The only snag was that Joe's truck broke down in the parking lot and had to be towed. The reception was at South St. Paul's VFW hall. Fall leaves were the motif - and beer bottle vases and gift shot glasses decorated the tables - evidence that these guys love to party! We had a great time photographing everything.
